Merchant documentation · Version 1.1.0 · Preview release
A clear start for your storefront.
Set up NovaVale, connect your products and check the shopping experience before you publish. This build is under review and has not been approved for the Shopify Theme Store.
1. Install and prepare
- In Shopify, open Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file. Keep the new theme unpublished while you configure it.
- Use Customize on that theme. Add your logo, choose fonts and set your brand colors in Theme settings → Brand & typography and Colors.
- Prepare real products and collections in Shopify before choosing them in sections. A sample illustration or disabled demo button is a setup aid, not a shoppable product.
- Set navigation under Content → Menus and connect menus in Header and Footer settings. Remove sample contact details and promotional claims.
- Preview home, product, collection, search, cart, contact, password and error pages on desktop and mobile before publishing.
2. Arrange sections and blocks
Choose the page template in the editor. Add, reorder or remove sections from its sidebar; header and footer use section groups. The default product template uses Product dossier. Its title, price, variants and purchase controls remain individual information blocks. Previous sections remain available through Add section; they have only been removed from the default layout. Search the section name to add one back, then choose its products, images and text.
Add an App block or Custom Liquid block to the product information column. App output is outside the purchase form. A standalone Custom liquid section is available on section-based templates. Test an app's real output and avoid duplicate HTML IDs.
When editing code, duplicate the theme first and keep a backup. Merchant-written code and custom tutorials are not covered as theme bug fixes; use a Shopify Partner if you need coding assistance.
3. Connect scenes, product files and comparison
In Theme settings → Scene discovery & files, choose Discovery catalog and up to three scene collections. Each scene needs a title, introduction and collection. Product membership in those collections determines the scenes displayed in its dossier. Use meaningful collections such as Focus, On the move and At home; the labels and catalog can be changed for any industry.
On the homepage use Scene discovery and Product file collection. On collection pages, Scene navigation and Scene product catalog keep the same buying context. On product pages, Product dossier shows the native gallery and purchase controls alongside the same product-file data. Section-level collections override the global fallback where offered.
Product-file parameters
In Shopify Settings → Custom data → Products, create single-line text metafields in
namespace novavale with keys connection,
battery_life, recommended_space and dimensions.
Enter consistent units and plain text on each product. Configure the four parameter labels
and namespace/key settings in Scene discovery & files to adapt the template to another
product category. Missing values display an empty-state marker; they never create a
specification.
Compare products
Add up to three products from the product cards or dossier to the comparison tray. Open Compare, remove items or use Differences only to hide matching rows. The four parameter values match the product dossier. Comparison selection is stored in this browser tab session and can be cleared without affecting the cart. JavaScript is required for interactive comparison; product links and native purchasing remain available.
Demo data
The preview uses six NovaVale demo audio products and three scene collections. Their specifications are illustrative demonstration data, not verified manufacturing or performance claims. Replace this content with your own catalog before launch. Demo products are store data shared by themes; duplicating a theme does not copy or isolate them.
Specialist purchase options
Configure subscriptions with a compatible subscription app. The purchase selector uses Shopify selling plans and allocation prices. If a variant does not support the selected plan, choose an available purchase option again. Prepaid plans show a per-delivery price; staged pricing and the app's plan description appear beside the selector. Verify the actual app, cancellation policy and supported payment gateway before selling subscriptions.
Gift cards use Shopify's gift-card products. Select “Send this gift card to a recipient” to enter the recipient email, optional name, message and delivery date (within 90 days). Use Add to cart for recipient gifts; accelerated checkout does not support recipient validation. Card issuance, email delivery and redemption are managed by Shopify.
Set unit measurements in each variant's Shopify pricing settings. The theme displays Shopify's unit price on product cards, the product page and cart, and clears it when a variant has no measurement. Sold-out variants remain inspectable while purchase actions are unavailable. The hidden QA fixtures in the demonstration store are not demo catalog products and must never be purchased.
Install the universal preset and configure your footer
The store-independent candidate ZIP contains only Shopify theme folders. It keeps every supplied section and shopping component, but removes demonstration-store product, collection, image, page and video selections. It also removes sample contact addresses and commercial promises from alternate templates. The source-materials ZIP is for developer inspection and is not a Shopify upload package.
- Upload the candidate ZIP as a new unpublished theme. Choose your own logo, fonts, colors and navigation; your store catalog remains in Shopify.
- Choose Discovery catalog and the scene collections in Theme settings → Scene discovery & files. Until collections are assigned, available product grids can use the store catalog and scene links remain absent. Missing specifications remain empty.
- Configure Header and Footer groups. Studio footer → Menu blocks offer Menu and Automatic navigation. A selected menu with links takes priority. Clear the menu selection to use Catalog and scenes or Store information.
- Catalog and scenes uses the same Discovery catalog and scene collections as the rest of the theme. Store information shows search, an existing Contact page and policies saved in Shopify. Privacy choices appears only when enabled and a real page or a custom link is available.
- Prepare shipping, returns, privacy and terms in Shopify Settings → Policies. The theme links to available policies; it does not create policies or invent delivery times, a warranty or a return entitlement.
- Review every contact template you use. Add your real address, contact details, hours and map locations before enabling those details. A theme upload does not create a Shopify page or change its assigned template.
- Keep the theme unpublished until you have tested variants, cart, checkout, newsletter consent, navigation and mobile layout with your own products.
Studio services and Studio footer remain separate, reorderable sections. Footer scroll motion now stays within available layout space so that it cannot cover the preceding section. Mobile menu accordions, newsletter signup, social links, Follow on Shop and Back to top remain available.
Changing a theme style updates presentation settings. It does not import demo products, create metafield definitions, install apps or replace your store menus. Merchant-selected resources belong in the store configuration, not in a redistributable preset.
4. Products, variants and pricing
Assign a product in every Featured product section and select collections in product grids. Add variant images in Shopify; swatches use Shopify swatch data when supplied and otherwise fall back to product images or labelled text.
Prices, discounts and unit measurements come from Shopify. Unit pricing appears when a variant has valid unit-price data. Tax, duty and shipping-policy messages follow the store's current configuration. Never put an invented unit price in a product title.
The native accelerated checkout block follows the selected variant and quantity. Wallets and installment offers depend on payment eligibility, location and device. Branded payment buttons keep Shopify's styling.
Subscriptions
Assign selling plans using a compatible subscription service. NovaVale shows eligible plans, updates their prices, sends the selected plan with add to cart and shows its name in the cart. Test plan availability on each variant; a theme cannot activate a subscription contract by itself.
Gift cards
Create a Shopify gift card product. Customers can optionally enter recipient email, name, message and a sending date up to 90 days ahead. Recipient sending requires JavaScript and uses Add to cart, because accelerated checkout does not support this validation. Without JavaScript, a regular gift card purchase remains available.
5. Images, videos and models
Upload product images, hosted videos, external videos and 3D models in Shopify. Add meaningful image alt text and set image focal points where needed. Gallery changes pause inactive videos; test third-party embed permissions and real model interaction on the target device.
Use only media and fonts you are entitled to use. Shopify font selectors load fonts through Shopify. Merchant-uploaded files remain the merchant's responsibility. Do not assume an image found on another storefront can be redistributed.
6. Discovery and international stores
Configure storefront filters with Shopify Search & Discovery; collection and search pages display the filters returned by Shopify. Set related and complementary products in that service. Empty recommendation responses intentionally display no invented products.
Publish languages and configure markets in Shopify before enabling country and language selectors. A theme selector cannot create a market or activate a payment currency. Pickup availability requires eligible inventory and pickup locations.
7. Cart and checkout
Check add, change quantity, remove, line-item properties, selling plans, discounts and order notes on both the cart drawer and cart page. The cart page has a separate Save note action. Native cart checkout options depend on Shopify and the store's payment setup.
Use test payments in a development store for checkout validation. Never send passwords, card details, access tokens or customer exports in a support request.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a homepage button say Demo preview?
No real product is assigned to that section. Open Customize, select the section and choose an available product. Assign a collection to product grids too.
Why is a wallet or installment banner absent?
Check payment eligibility, the selected variant, buyer region and device. Shopify controls availability. Gift card recipient forms intentionally use regular add to cart.
Why are filters or complementary products empty?
Configure them in Shopify Search & Discovery and verify that relevant products are available to the Online Store channel.
How do I update without losing settings?
Duplicate the installed theme, keep a copy of custom code and record app configurations. Compare the new version in a draft theme, migrate settings carefully and test every important template before publishing.
Which browsers should I test?
Use current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, plus real iOS and Android devices. A Windows WebKit test does not replace an iPhone test. Some platform telemetry errors can occur even when shopping interactions work.
Theme support policy
Theme support covers reproducible defects in the supplied theme and questions about its documented settings. Custom development, app-specific modifications and merchant-authored Liquid require a separate agreement. Shopify account, billing and payment-provider issues should go to the corresponding service.
Support is handled by Jack at Orvane. Contact: zhangjinggui26@gmail.com. We provide an initial response within two business days and prioritize critical theme bugs for immediate investigation and correction. The form accepts optional PNG, JPEG or WebP screenshots up to 2 MB. A request reference is displayed on receipt; email auto-confirmation is not sent. The form displays current intake availability and only confirms receipt after storage succeeds. Jack receives a private Gmail notification and replies by email. Include your request reference when following up. Use the support form to check intake availability.
Support privacy and release notes
The form asks for your reply email, store domain, theme version and issue description, plus your name and a redacted screenshot if you choose to include them. This information is used to diagnose and reply to your request. Never include customer exports, passwords, tokens or payment information. Records are private to the theme support operator; they are not published in the theme or documentation. Contact zhangjinggui26@gmail.com with your request reference to request correction or deletion. Support requests and attached screenshots are retained while the request is open and deleted within 90 days after resolution. Gmail is used for private operator notifications and email replies. The operator also deletes mailbox copies within the same retention period. Temporary per-client request limits help protect the form; IP addresses are not stored in support records.
1.1.0 preview: scene discovery, product dossiers and three-product comparison became the default experience. Previous sections remain addable; variants, cart, selling plans, gift-card recipients and accelerated checkout are retained. The October 26 maintenance update improves stylesheet readability, font-picker consistency and localization form IDs, and provides verified third-party source archives. The release-preparation update adds automatic footer navigation, protects Studio services from footer overlap and builds a separate store-independent candidate without changing the configured demonstration catalog. This preview has not been approved by the Shopify Theme Store.
